TOUCHVISION SMARTSTAND ENABLES AFFORDABLE INDEPENDENT ACCESS TO PRINTED TEXT FOR VISUALLY IMPAIRED
Persons with visual impairment lack far behind their sighted peers in terms of learning and adapting to new things because of unavailability of learning material and recreational activities.This hinders their inclusion in educational ecosystem and eventually limits employment opportunities.TouchVision SmartStand empowers persons with visual impairment to access printed text in a seamless and independent manner across 180 languages.It is portable,light weight, costs 1/100th of the traditional scanners and currently being used across the globe for producing accessible digital copies of any form of printed text. Persons with print disabilities ranging from a 10 year old school student to an IAS officer are accessing notices, books or any long document to study and work in an independent and dignified manner.
TouchVision is an IIT Delhi incubated Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion(DIPP) recognized social enterprise aiming at social inclusion for the 1 billion persons with disabilities globally.The enterprise has been honored with National Award for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities 2019 by the President of India for development of affordable assistive technologies.
